2018 – Ultra Violet 18-3838
Every year the Pantone Color Institute forecasts global color trends and advises companies on color in brand identity and product development, for the application and integration of color as a strategic asset. Recognized around the world as a leading source of color information through seasonal trend forecasts, custom color development, and palette recommendations for product and corporate identity, Pantone Color Institute partners with global brands to leverage the power, psychology and emotion of color in their design strategy.
“We are living in a time that requires inventiveness and imagination. It is this kind of creative inspiration that is indigenous to PANTONE 18-3838 Ultra Violet, a blue-based purple that takes our awareness and potential to a higher level,” said Leatrice Eiseman, Executive Director of the Pantone Colour Institute. “From exploring new technologies and the greater galaxy, to artistic expression and spiritual reflection, intuitive Ultra Violet lights the way to what is yet to come.”
Because the Pantone Color of the year is based on market trends we expect to see more and more of its influence pop up in all elements of design from UI Platforms to Fashion Trends as well as Interior Design. As UI Designers we can use this knowledge to help us create ‘on trend’ brands and design web platforms and applications that match the current market. Its early days yet, but we take a look at some influences of this color palette already cropping up this year.
